Welcome to Missional Miles!

"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for." - John Augustus Shedd

Welcome to Missional Miles, a new online forum dedicated to helping charitable travelers (such as yourself) make missions, adoption, and service-related travel affordable through strategic usage of miles, points, & cash-back redemptions.

Missional Miles was developed with three purposes in mind: 1) encourage travelers to use a portion of their hard-earned miles/points to go and participate in charitable travel, 2) help charitable travelers achieve affordable travel, and 3) identify opportunities to participate in charitable travel. My next post will detail the vision behind these goals by providing a few of my past experiences that drive this philosophy on charitable travel.

It is important to note that earning and using airline miles will not be the best fit for every traveler due to the typical limitations of "award seat" availability--especially for the short-notice needs of disaster relief volunteers and adoption travelers. Additionally, earning travel or cash-back through credit card spending and sign-up bonuses has its place but must be done responsibly. If we end up paying large fees or monthly interest on our purchases, the value of any rewards we receive will be significantly limited at best.

While no strategy exists that will work perfectly for all readers, lets work together to identify your travel-related goals and the means of reaching them.

Do you currently earn miles/points/cash back on purchases?  If so, leave a comment and let us know what you use them for!
